About Ptown Bikes

Our Story

"The goal of Ptown Bikes is to have every customer leave the shop with a "WOW!" experience...
Wow! Those were nice rental bikes!
Wow! My bike runs like brand new after its tune-up!
Wow! This place is organized and fast!
Wow! These guys are so helpful and nice!

Ptown Bikes opened its doors on April 1, 1995 with 55 rental bikes, and has been continuously growing and improving ever since. As of 2022, we have over 650 rental bikes. The shop has a large rental fleet of TREK and SPECIALIZED bicycles and a growing fleet of Specialized electric pedal assist E- Bikes for rent; the rental fleet is meticulously maintained and new bikes are added every year. Each year we also retire rental bikes from our fleet and tune them up before selling them as used bikes.

The owner, Bill Meadows, has a background in education, and it shows in how he helps guide his customers towards good decisions and pleasant renting experiences. When he opened the business in 1995, his goal was to offer better service than the other bike shops in town. He wanted his products to be of the highest quality. He wanted his staff to be friendly, knowledgable, and friendly. He wanted his store and services to be reliable. He wanted the store's reputation to be the best.

In 2004, we had a custom software program written just for our store. We now have data base with tens of thousands of customers. Whether you had your bike repaired here, bought a bike here, or rented a bike here we can access all the information about your transactions. Our software also offers a fast way to sign-up for a bike online or in person, and to close out your bill when you're done. We want you riding our bikes, not waiting around our store.

Ptown Bikes was the first shop to offer reservations during busy weeks. We were the first to have an online website in 1995 and later we were the first to offer online reservations.

Ptown Bikes believes you should be in charge of your vacation. We are the only shop that offers Pay As You Go rentals, that is you don't have to decide ahead of time how long your ride is. Instead you pay at the end. This way if your plans change you are not stuck with a prepaid bike. We also have a 24 HOUR BIKE RETURN so you can return your bikes when it fits your schedule, not ours.

The Head Mechanic/General Manager, Jeff Millett, has been with Ptown Bikes for over 22 years. He offers outstanding bicycle repair service to everyone who walks in the door. Customers bring their bikes in from near and far because Jeff's repair skills and standards are so outstanding.
